Janet Jackson will speak about the 2004 Super Bowl halftime episode in a four-part docuseries about Justin Timberlake that Apple TV intends to release in December, Variety reported on Nov. 2.

Variety said three sources confirmed the project, and one of them called it a tell-all series. A second source told the trade publication that Jackson discusses the moment during the Super Bowl XXXVIII show when Timberlake pulled at her costume and exposed her breast on live television.

According to the same report, Timberlake also addresses recent public comments by Britney Spears, his former girlfriend. Fisher Stevens is directing. Spokespeople for Timberlake, Jackson and Apple either had no comment or did not answer Variety's questions.

The halftime show took place at Reliant Stadium in Houston on Feb. 1, 2004. Jackson was the headline act and Timberlake joined her for "Rock Your Body." Rolling Stone reported that Jackson absorbed most of the consequences, losing radio airplay and watching her career stall. Timberlake returned to the Super Bowl halftime stage as a solo headliner in 2017.

In February 2021, after the documentary Framing Britney Spears renewed scrutiny of the episode, Timberlake posted an apology to both women. "I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both individually, because I care for and respect these women and I know I failed," he wrote.

The docuseries would arrive during a quiet stretch for Timberlake. His last album, "Everything I Thought It Was," came out in March 2024, and the Forget Tomorrow tour behind it finished in July 2025. That month he disclosed a Lyme disease diagnosis, saying the illness had caused nerve pain and fatigue during shows.

Billboard reported that he pleaded guilty to a reduced impaired-driving charge after his June 2024 arrest in Sag Harbor, New York. He was sentenced to 25 hours of community service. More recently he appeared as a guest during Jay-Z's concert in Paris in October and released "House Music" with Quavo in early October, according to Billboard. He starred in the Apple Original film "Palmer" in 2021.

Apple has not announced a specific release date within December, and none of the three parties has confirmed the project on the record.
